From Internet Telephony to Voice over Internet Protocol there was a shift. Believe it or not, we're already using cloud telephony at the carrier grade level. What's important to note, is how the hosted solutions market will grow significantly in 2010 for enterprise customers. Pulling the plug on your 20-year-old PBX can be a scary thought. However, the idea of telephony-in-the-cloud is not new, and service providers are constructing fully-redundant, secure, and nearly bullet-proof environments that are ready to handle your volume. The age of the Carrier’s network says a lot about the provider’s predicament. Old networks are set in place and mostly still run on legacy copper and TDM. Given the way finance is, these companies are largely stuck milking the network for all they can. New service providers with fresh cash flow prefer to run over fiber facilities with much better optical equipment enabling better service and better margins. The fiber brings the broadband that delivers VoIP and the fiber network is just as important as the device (mobile, laptop, etc.) using the service. Word of Advice
Your contracts need to be mature with your existing providers. If you don’t have time to talk to us about your options then continue the existing service month to month. Do not renew any contracts or purchase any hardware. Inform us when your contract matures so we can remind you, sometimes they "auto renew" if your not careful. Even if you wish to use your key-system you need service from an advanced provider for redundancy and enhancements.
